We’re thrilled about the rescue of our colleague Tanawoot Pratoom after he fell overboard and spent around eight hours in the Atlantic Ocean last week.

When the crew of container vessel Maersk Bintan discovered a shipmate missing while en route from Panama to Spain, about 550 nautical miles from nearest land southeast of Bermuda, they promptly reversed course and began a search. Thanks in part to the US Coast Guard’s drift simulation technology, the crewman’s long fight to stay afloat was rewarded with a reunion with his shipmates.

At the vessel’s first port call in Algeciras, Spain, Tanawoot shared his experience on video, before returning to his home in Thailand to recuperate.
