Search Schedules and Rates

Whether you are planning your future transport, comparing your options, or preparing to place your booking request
- it is usual to start by identifying the locations involved in order to determine an expected routing and a price.

Schedules
The basic schedule search process starts with identifying the locations where the shipment is originating (origin) and terminating (destination):

• Origin (‘From’): It may be a port, container yard, at your facility (‘store door’).
  This lets us know where we will be receiving the container.
• Destination (‘To’): Similar to Origin – this location may be a port, container yard, at your facility (‘store door’).
  This lets us know where we will be receiving the container.

Based on these locations you will be presented with a number of transport options. For each we will specify how your shipment will be transported (transportation mode: vessel, barge, train), the expected departure/arrival dates and an estimated transit time.

Rates
Now that you have established the locations – it is possible to determine the price to transport your shipment.
In addition to the locations – you will be asked to specify:

• Type of commodity
• Container size and type

From the rates application you can flow to the schedules application.
This will pre-populate the origin and destination specified in the rates step.
 
Alternatively you can start in the schedules application and flow to the rates application.
This will pre-populate the locations specified in the schedules step.

In either case you can flow to the booking application if you are ready to initiate this step

Quick guidelines - Rates & Schedules

Rates
Rate search allows you to search for rates and charges in our freight tariff database to and from all countries. Find our freight rates and surcharges. Fast, easy and convenient!

Good reasons for retrieving your rates online:

• No time on the telephone or sending mail requests
• Easy and fast rate retrieval including all additional charges
• Initiate a booking directly from rate search  

Schedules
Schedules search allows you to search for a specific service by either location, vessel, port, map or trade lane and you can save your previous searches and reuse them another time.

Good reasons for retrieving your rates online:

• No time on the telephone or sending mail requests
• Easy and fast schedule retrieval including possibility to get a rate on the found schedule and go directly to booking, transferring all the information already typed in.

Searching for a rate

You initiate a rate request either by selecting Find a rate in the quick access menu on the frontpage of maerskline.com, or logging in and selecting Rates in the menu. 

Registered users

Registered users can access the rates service, as follows: 

1. Go to maerskline.com
2. In the menu select Find a rate (Figure 1)

3. A pop-up window will prompt you to choose the appropriate valid certificate and select OK. (Figure 2)

1. New rate search - in this section you can create a new rate search request.
2. Tariff overview - provides customer access to tariff, rules, terms, service contracts, historical data and conference and agreement tariff information.
3. Email rate request - here you can enter your rate request and receive a response via email.
4. My saved searches - this contains pre-defined and saved rates search criterias. 
5. Surcharges – in this section you can view BAF and CAF formula and charges.
   
   

New rate search

If you click ‘New rate search’ from the menu, you are now on the “New rate search” screen (Figure 4). To see how to use the online Rates search, click the link in the red box.

Input your search Criteria:

Preferred units and formats (unit system and currency).
You can change the default unit and currency if you wish.

Cargo (mandatory input).

• Select a group from the drop-down (you may be asked to specify later if group contains various similar commodities) or
• Type a commodity (minimum 3 characters) in the commodity field and click on ‘look up’. This will bring search for commodities containing your typed info. Select one and click ‘OK’ and your selection is now added to your search.

Equipment size and type (mandatory inputs)

• Please select from the drop-down menu.
• Quantity, weight and measurement are optional.
• If you require more than one container size, please click on ‘+ Compare with other type of equipment’. This will add another line to select from. You can select maximum 4 equipment types.

Route

• Please select your desired export service (CY or store door).
• Then type the ports or cities you desire to move cargo from and to (minimum 3 characters), and it is a mandatory input.
• Then click on ‘look up’. This will bring you to a list of ports and cities matching your input.
• Select to and from location and click on ‘OK’. Your selections are now added.
• If you require more than one set of to/from locations, please click on ‘+ Compare with alternative route. This will add another line to select from. You can select maximum 3 to/from combinations.
• Please select your desired import service (CY or store door).
• Please select date. To get the most correct rate, the date should reflect the date Maersk Line receives the cargo. If no date selected, Rates will provide a rate effective today.

2. Click Search, then and it would take a few seconds to show the search result (Figure 5).

If the search criterias match with our rates database, you will now be presented with your result (Figure 6).

If you have searched on multiple parameters (Figure 7), you will receive an overview screen. From here you need to select one entry by clicking the radio button, and click on ‘View Details’ (Figure 8).

On Detail screen (Figure 6) each surcharge can be clicked for more information (under red rectangle).

You also have other options:

• Optional services (Figure 9). You can click here to add more services. This will bring a list of possible services. You can select them by clicking on the tick boxes and then click OK. The selected optional services will then be added to your calculation. You can de-select by removing tick marks.
• View Schedules. Click on the button and you will see schedules for your searched ports.
• Create a booking. Click on “Create booking” button. You can book directly on your searched parameters.
• Cancel search

More options can be found in drop-down action bar on top of screen

• Book on this tariff – Make a booking based on the searched tariff.
• Optional services – add more optional services on the searched result.
• Edit search – will take you back to search screen for editing.
• Save search criteria - Will enable you to save you searches by a nickname and look them up in ‘My saved searches’.
  
• View schedules – will provide schedules for searched ports
• Print – will open a printer-friendly format.
• Download – will provide an html format for download.
• E-mail – will enable you to type in an e-mail address and mail the rate search.

Tariff Overview

Tariff overview is the regulatory part of Rates. It is created to provide customer access to tariff, rules and terms related information. For all shipments to/from United States, it should be aligned with FMC regulatory.

On ‘Tariff overview’ page, you will have 4 options (Figure 11):

Maersk Tariff List
Service contract essential terms
Historical Data
Conference and agreement tariff

1. Maersk Tariff List (Including finding an inland rate)

• Select “Maersk tariff list” by clicking on radio button and OK.
• A list of all Maersk Line’s Base Rate Tariffs and Inland tariffs will display.

You can limit your search by pressing ‘search selection’ (red rectangle of Figure 12).

If you know tariff number, you can directly search for it, or

Select from drop-down (Figure 13):

• origin country
• destination country
• tariff type
• date
• Click Search. This will bring you to a limited list of tariffs. Click on the required tariff number (Figure 14).

 
This will bring you to the tariff details webpage (Figure 15). You can scroll down to see the geographical and commodity scope of the tariff. You also have more options for the selected tariff.

• Rules – searching specific rules, e.g. “CAF”
• Inland rate - click on related inland tariff to see specifics.

Click “Calculate inland rate” button (Figure 15) and you can go to a search page (Figure 16). Please choose the inland haulage port and the relevant location group. For U.S.A, the group is named based on the zip code rule.

After clicking “Calculate” button, you can get the requested rate (Figure 18).

To go back to tariff details (Figure 15), please select ok and you can hoose another inland rate, search for rules or view the rules list.

2. Service Contract Essential Terms

Select Service contract essential terms by clicking radio button (Figure 11) and click OK.
This will open a search screen (Figure 19). You have two options:
 
Search by contract number

• Input contract number and select date.
• This will provide contract essential terms information for the specific contract.

Search by locations

• Select origin country/destination country and type in a commodity, select a date and press search.
• This will provide a list of contracts with your search criteria
• Click on desired contract.
• This will provide contract essential terms information for the specific contract.

3. Historical Data (Figure 20)

• Select Historical data by clicking on radio button (Figure 11) and OK.
• Click on the hyper-link.
• This will open our historical rate information search screen in a separate window.

4. Conference and Agreement Tariff (Figure 21)

• Select Conference and agreement tariff by clicking on radio button (Figure 11) and click OK.
• This will open a list of hyper-links to all the public tariffs relevant to Maersk Line as well as conference tariffs of the conferences that Maersk Line is member of.
• Click on any hyper-link and the page will open in a separate window.

My saved searches

In My saved searches, you can see an overview of all the pre-defined saved search criterias.

• You can re-use your searches by making a tick-mark in the action box next to it and select ‘search based on single selected’ (Figure 22).
• You can book on one of your searches by making a tick-mark in the box next to it and select ‘Book based on single selected’.
• You can rename one of your searches by making a tick-mark in the box next to it and select ‘Rename nickname’.
• You can delete one of your searches by making a tick-mark in the box next to it and select ‘Delete selected’.
