Maersk Line's Ágnes Hernád wins Best Young Manager of the Year
20 February 2012
Ágnes Hernád, Managing Director of Maersk Hungary, was awarded the Best Young Manager of the Year 2011 Award, last week by National Association of Hungarian Managers (Menedzserek Országos Szövetsége). This is the 12th year for this prestigious award; yet only the second time ever that a woman has won. The award was presented to Ágnes, during a ball held on 11 February at the InterContinental Budapest Hotel, for her decisive role in successfully managing the company and her outstanding leadership performance.
Ágnes has led the company through the crisis affecting the logistics industry and managed to significantly develop the business in that time. Her experience as Maersk’s customer service manager in Hungary means she has a strong focus on improving the customer experience. This approach has been acknowledged in increasingly high levels of customer satisfaction. The Association also highlighted Ágnes’ success in implementing the Scandinavian work culture of the Danish owners.
Ágnes Hernád (born 1976) has managed Maersk Hungary since 2008. She started her experience with Maersk on the Group’s internship programme MISE (Maersk International Shipping Education) in 2000. During her traineeship she held various positions in the Sales department and in Maersk Logistics, whereafter she established the Safmarine brand in Hungary in 2003 as commercial manager. She later spent one year on maternity leave and then managed the customer service department at Maersk Hungary prior to taking the helm of the company.
Ágnes told us: “When I started my career as a trainee at my first workplace, I never believed that in 12 years time I would be receiving such an award while being the managing director of the same company. This award is a great privilege and honor. It is an appreciation of not just my personal accomplishments, but also of the team work that all of us here at Maersk Hungary do to strengthen our position.”
Maersk Line in Hungary offers complex solutions for transport of containerised goods, combining its direct service from Far East to Koper (Slovenia) with reliable inland services, such as a network of dedicated trains from Koper to Budapest.
