General rate increase in the North America to Mediterranean, North Africa, Middle East and Indian Subcontinent trades

30 October 2009

Maersk Line would like to announce a general rate increase effective 1 December 2009 in the North America to Mediterranean, North Africa, Middle East, and Indian Subcontinent trades.

The trading conditions for the carriers operating in these markets are still subject to unacceptable rate levels and the situation is unsustainable in the longer term. The rate increase is necessary to continue to operate our services with the high level of reliability our customers have come to expect from Maersk Line.

The filed increases are as follows:

  • USD 250 per 20'
  • USD 350 per 40'
  • USD 350 per 40' HC
  • USD 350 per 45'

The increase applies from all origins in USA and Canada to destinations in Middle East and Indian Subcontinent

  • USD 120 per 20'
  • USD 150 per 40' STD/HC,
  • USD 170 per 45' container

The rate increases apply to dry cargo only.
