Maersk Line announces an enhancement of its service portfolio in Iraq. We are now able to offer our customers a direct reefer service to and from the Iraqi market through the South Port terminal in Umm Qasr.
The specially designed facility gives Maersk Line direct access to the only dedicated reefer yard in Iraq. Combined with a Maersk-owned feeder vessel operating between Jebel Ali Dubai (UAE) and Umm Qasr (Iraq), it will present our customers with a reliable and secure product which is unique in this market. Customers are no longer limited to overland routes with complex cross-border procedures to serve the Iraqi market.
“With the direct connection into Umm Qasr our customers will experience ease of doing business in this promising market”, says Joerg Sonne, Managing Director of Maersk Line’s Jordan cluster. “And with the opening of reefer acceptance we will certainly create further opportunities for our Iraqi customers”.
Initially Maersk Line will only accept frozen cargo into Iraq, but soon we will open to the full range of frozen and chilled reefer commodities.
Maersk Line is the industry leader in containerised reefer transport. The introduction of reefer acceptance to Iraq is a natural step in expanding our reach in order to create new business opportunities for our customers.
