Introduction

Founded in 1951 as a shipbroker in the City of London, the Maersk Company has grown to become the largest commercial ship owner and a significant transportation operator in the UK.

We employ over 5,100 staff ashore and at sea, and own more than 45 vessels of various types ranging from tankers, gas carriers and container vessels to some of the world's most powerful offshore vessels. As the UK agent for Maersk Line’s worldwide container services we handle 600 direct vessel calls annually.

The Maersk Company is one of the largest employers of British merchant seafarers and the predominantly British-flagged fleet has undergone sustained development in recent years. Vessels include small and large container vessels, product tankers, gas carriers and high horsepower multipurpose offshore supply vessels. The Company has a long term relationship with the Ministry of Defense through the provision of defense fuel storage.
