Introduction

Maersk Singapore...

The arrival of m.s. Leise Maersk in July 1929 heralded the establishment of Maersk's presence in Singapore.It spawned the growth of Maersk Singapore Pte. Ltd. into one of the largest shipping agency in Singapore handling some 550 ships call and in excess of 1 million TEUs per year. Through the comprehensive global network of liner services, Maersk Line in Singapore is able to offer transport solutions to and from any port on the globe. Customer care and satisfaction is ensured through highly trained customer service teams aided by advanced information systems. Over the course of its business, Maersk Line in Singapore has received many awards in recognition of its contribution to the international trade of Singapore, the Company was awarded the prestigious International Trade Award in 1996 - 1997 and again 1998 - 1999 by the Singapore Trade Development Board.

On 11 December 1999, A.P. Moller-Maersk Line acquired the international liner shipping business of Sealand Service Inc. (trading as "Sealand"). The business of Maersk Line and Sealand has merged under the trade name of 'MAERSK SEALAND" - represented in Singapore by Maersk Singapore Pte. Ltd., as agents.

In October 2000, Maersk Line in Singapore made another historical mark when it decided to move its container operation to Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), Southern Malaysia. With the move to PTP, Maersk Line in Singapore is now able to offer an even wider scope of transport solutions including trucking wherein offering a unique concept of door-to-door service to our customers.

In August 2005, Maersk made yet another mark in the shipping industry when it announced the purchase of Royal P&O Nedlloyd. It was only then on 12 February 2006 that both organization is known under a new brand name as "Maersk Line".

1929 First liner vessel “Leise Maersk” called at Singapore on 8 July. Agency under Borneo Co.
1975 The inaugural call of the m.s. “Adrian Maersk” in Singapore set off the growth of Maersk Singapore Pte Ltd into one of the largest shipping agency in Singapore.
1975 Maersk Line Singapore Pvt Ltd was incorporated. About 25 employees, from Anglo-American agency, came onboard.
1978 Visit of Mr. Maersk McKinney Moller to Singapore.
1978 Mercantile Singapore Pte Ltd (now known as Maersk Logistics) was established to provide freight consolidation services.
1993 The Company’s Asia headquarters was transferred from Japan to Singapore.
1995 Maersk Logistics Asia Pte Ltd was established.
1995 MCSC Singapore Pte Ltd was established.
1996 Maersk Singapore won the inaugural Singapore Trade Development Board ITA award 1996-97 and again from 1998-99, for outstanding contributions to the international trade of Singapore.
1999 A.P. Moller – Maersk Line acquired Sealand Service Inc and merged both businesses under the trade name of Maersk Sealand – represented in Singapore by Maersk Singapore Pte Ltd as agents.
2000 The activities of Sealand Logistics were integrated to form Maersk Logistics Singapore Pvt. Ltd.
2000 Maersk Singapore moved its container operation to Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), southern Malaysia.
2000 Mrs. Goh Chok Tong, wife of Prime Minister, became Sponsor of “Effie Maersk” (VLCC) at the Pasir Panjang Container Terminal, PSA.
2003 South East Asia headquarters established.
2005 Mrs Helen Yeo, wife of Transport Minister, Mr. Yeo Cheow Tong, became Sponsor of “Maersk Phoenix” (product tanker) on 10 May, at Pasir Panjang Terminal, PSA.
2005 A.P. Moller – Maersk completed purchase of P&O Nedlloyd on 11 August.
