The arrival of m.s. Leise Maersk in July 1929 heralded the establishment of Maersk's presence in Singapore.It spawned the growth of Maersk Singapore Pte. Ltd. into one of the largest shipping agency in Singapore handling some 550 ships call and in excess of 1 million TEUs per year. Through the comprehensive global network of liner services, Maersk Line in Singapore is able to offer transport solutions to and from any port on the globe. Customer care and satisfaction is ensured through highly trained customer service teams aided by advanced information systems. Over the course of its business, Maersk Line in Singapore has received many awards in recognition of its contribution to the international trade of Singapore, the Company was awarded the prestigious International Trade Award in 1996 - 1997 and again 1998 - 1999 by the Singapore Trade Development Board.
On 11 December 1999, A.P. Moller-Maersk Line acquired the international liner shipping business of Sealand Service Inc. (trading as "Sealand"). The business of Maersk Line and Sealand has merged under the trade name of 'MAERSK SEALAND" - represented in Singapore by Maersk Singapore Pte. Ltd., as agents.
In October 2000, Maersk Line in Singapore made another historical mark when it decided to move its container operation to Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), Southern Malaysia. With the move to PTP, Maersk Line in Singapore is now able to offer an even wider scope of transport solutions including trucking wherein offering a unique concept of door-to-door service to our customers.
In August 2005, Maersk made yet another mark in the shipping industry when it announced the purchase of Royal P&O Nedlloyd. It was only then on 12 February 2006 that both organization is known under a new brand name as "Maersk Line".

· The Company’s Asia headquarters was transferred from Japan to Singapore.

· Maersk Logistics Asia Pte Ltd was established.

· Maersk Singapore won the inaugural Singapore Trade Development Board ITA award 1996-97 and again from 1998-99, for outstanding contributions to the international trade of Singapore.
