Our social media channels Social media offers Maersk Group the ability to closely connect with all our stakeholders around the world including current and future employees, and those that are simply interested in what we do. With Maersk’s coordinated presence on various social media platforms, interested fans and followers can find a variety of information that is made especially with each platform community in mind. Whether your interests are aimed towards the oil and gas industry, the transport and shipping industry, or maritime technology, Maersk’s social media profiles have something for you. Why social media? In Q4 2011, Maersk Line finally got going with social media. Up until that point in time we had been in what we termed “a listening phase”, trying to digest what social media is about and decide whether or not it makes sense to be there for a B2B company like ours. As social media matured the past couple of years, we got more and more convinced, and we took the first step by creating a strategy in October 2011. To summarise, our main goal is to use social media to “get closer to our customers”. But at the same time we realise that there’s much more to gain from it, such as better press coverage, higher employee engagement, more brand awareness and even bringing in high-level insights and intelligence from shipping experts around the world.
